File Setup Guidelines

Thank you for choosing My Stationery Printer. Use the guidelines below to insure that your project runs smoothly and you get the results you expect.

LAYOUT GUIDELINES:

Always include 0.125 inches of bleed area outside of trim.

Always include bleed area in all files, regardless of whether or not your artwork reaches its edges.

2-Sided Items & Mutli-Page Items should be delivered as a single PDF file with multiple pages.

Borders, if included, should be a minimum of 0.125 inches PLUS 0.125 inches of bleed for a total size of 0.25 inches or greater on each side.

FILE FORMAT GUIDELINES:

File Format: Flattened PDF (PDF/X-1a:2001)

Color Mode: CMYK

Remove all crop marks and any other printer’s marks.

Embed or outline all fonts.

Images and bitmaps should be at least 300dpi.

Use flat black (C=0%, M=0%, Y=0%, K=100%) rather than rich black.

Max Density: 300%.

Convert all RGB colors to CMYK (automatic when saving to PDF/X-1a:2001).

Convert all PMS colors to CMYK unless you are printing White. See White Ink Setup.

Remove all ICC profiles before creating your PDF.

Remove all overprint - it is not necessary and will not print correctly.

Files should be right reading and appear on screen in the same orientation as intended for the viewer. If the file is a portrait card, then the file should be sent “view portrait.” If the file is a landscape card, then the file should be sent “view landscape.”
